LGBTQIA+ CPAW

LGBTQIA+ Community Prevention Alliance Workgroup

GUIDE’s Young Adult Community Prevention Alliance Workgroup (CPAW), supported by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), engages young adults, ages 18-25, in the LGBTQIA+ community to address health disparities around heavy and binge drinking in the community through a variety of activities.

CPAW members are young adults who are dedicated and passionate about creating a safer culture around alcohol use in the LGBTQIA+ community. Members are expected to attend monthly hour-long virtual meetings to work together to plan alcohol risk reduction and substance use prevention strategies to implement in their communities. There will be an in-person retreat that CPAW members are required to attend that focuses on learning prevention and leadership skills while allowing for the opportunity for CPAW members to network. The goal of the CPAW is to bring change around alcohol use to members’ local communities through careful planning and organization.

Compensation is offered for attendance at monthly meetings as well as the in-person retreat. We also offer reimbursement for travel for all in-person activities required of the CPAW.
