2024 Suicide Prevention Month Art Contest

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month! Gwinnett youth are invited to join GUIDE as we celebrate with a Suicide Prevention Month Art Contest!

The Campaign

Words influence a person’s beliefs and thoughts about something. Words also affect the stigma around a certain topic, such as suicide or substance use. Stigma negatively impacts a person and a community. For example, feeling stigmatized can reduce a person’s willingness to ask for help. However, positive words, or language, have the opposite effect. Positive language helps change our perceptions and beliefs about the world around us. How can we change our language to make a positive change in our community?

Participate in Our Contest

Middle and high school youth in Gwinnett are invited to create a visual representation of how changing your words can change your mindset. The whole piece must only have seven words or less. Entries may be submitted from both individuals and groups, and there are no limits on the number of entries that can be submitted!

Contest entries may include digital artwork, photography or a photo of a physical art piece (such as a painting or drawing).

Entries should be submitted by Friday, July 12, 2024, at 11:59 pm.

Our panel of judges consists of members on PAC-G’s Mental Wellness Task Force including representatives from View Point Health, Gwinnett County Public Schools, Live Healthy Gwinnett, DBHDD, GUIDE, NAMI Gwinnett and more. The panel will choose three winners.

Winners will be contacted via email by Friday, July 26, 2024. Our winners will be announced and featured on social media (@guidegti) during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
