Team Building: Holiday Minute to Win It Activities

Previously, we provided you with a series of not one, not two, but three different blogs related to different Minute to Win It activities you can use with your team, be it youth or adults. As we mentioned before, these games originated from the popular NBC TV show, “Minute to Win It,” where contestants try to complete challenges with household items in 60 seconds or less. We love these activities, and so do our workshop and conference participants!

Do you want to add a little flair to your holiday party? Try this holiday-inspired Minute to Win It Games.

Snowball Toss

Materials: One large bag of regular sized marshmallows, one bucket, one holiday wreath and string to hang the wreath from the ceiling

Goal: In this challenge, contestants must stand behind the designated area and toss marshmallows, one at a time, through the wreath into a bucket. Ten marshmallows must be in the bucket in 60 seconds or less to complete the task.

Directions:

Hang one wreath from the ceiling or doorframe with the string. Place a bucket approximately three feet behind the wreath.

Designate a space where contestants will begin; this is their starting line and may not cross over as they throw the marshmallows.

Give contestants a bag of marshmallows, and instruct them to try and get as many as they can through the wreath and into the bucket. In order to win the challenge, contestants must get ten marshmallows in the bucket in 60 seconds or less.

Candy Cane Pick Up

Materials: 20 large, wrapped candy canes and a table

Goal: In this challenge, contestants must put a candy cane in their mouth with the curved side pointing up. The contestants will then use their candy canes to pick up other candy canes that are lying on the table and drop them on the floor. They must get 15 candy canes on the floor in 60 seconds or less in order to complete the challenge.

Directions:

Place 16 candy canes on a table.

Have contestants come to the table and put one of the candy canes in their mouth, curved side up. Start the timer, and have contestants pick up and drop candy canes on the floor next to the table. Note: Contestants must “hook” candy canes from the table on the end of the candy cane that’s in their mouth, not just push it off the table. In order to win the challenge, contestants must “hook” 15 candy canes and drop them on the floor.

No Time Like the Present

Materials: Five gift bags of varying sizes and a table

Goal: In this challenge, contestants must pick up five gift bags with their mouths and place them on the table within 60 seconds.

Directions:

Place five gift bags of varying sizes on the floor, ten feet away from a table.

Tell contestants that they have to place all five gift bags, one at a time, on the table in 60 seconds or less in order to win the challenge.
