At Georgia Teen Institute (GTI) 2026, we are uncovering what it truly means to lead. This year’s theme, Leadership Decoded, invites Youth Action Teams to step into the role of investigators—exploring strengths, unlocking new skills and piecing together how youth can make a real impact in Georgia’s communities.
GTI is more than a summer program. It is a hands-on leadership experience where young people grow their confidence, strengthen their voice and turn ideas into action.

Crack the Case: Investigate Your Leadership Potential
At GTI, leadership is not about having all the answers—it is about asking the right questions and being open to exploring the possibilities.
Through Family Group, Learning Labs and more, participants will:
- Break down what leadership looks like in action
- Build confidence in youth voice and decision-making
- Strengthen communication and teamwork skills
- Learn how to lead with purpose and authenticity
Each session is thoughtfully designed to help participants uncover new strengths and sharpen their skills.
Piece Together Real-World Impact
Leadership becomes real when you take action—and that is where our Youth Action Teams (YATs) come in.
Youth Action Teams work to identify an issue affecting their community (usually involving underage drinking, other substance use and/or mental health) and create an Action Plan to address it. Together, they will:
- Analyze real challenges facing youth and communities
- Develop a step-by-step Action Plan using the Strategic Prevention Framework
- Leave with a project they can implement back home
